Week 27

Phew! I need a nap! Actually I have taken quite a few naps this week trying to recover from a cold or sinus infection or allergies or WHATEVER it is haha but I am still tired somehow!

Anyway, this week was really good! So some of the highlights:

On Wednesday my new companion came to Mt Airy! She is so adorable and we are getting along so well! She is goofy but not in the same way as Sister Jeppson. She's just lots of fun and helps me a lot when I start to freak out. She is much more calm and collected than I!

We did a lot of visits with active members this week so that Sister Sessions could get to know them and that was a lot of fun for me too! I realized that I know my area a lot better than I thought I did! My confidence is growing!

We also visited a less active family who LOVES music! We have visited them in the past and every time we go over we talk a lot about music and the parents' life adventures and all that! They are super well traveled and just some of the most interesting people in the world! The parents also have a super cute love story so that's fun to talk about. They all love music and the daughter Savannah said she would come play guitar at our ward talent show in a few weeks if I would sing. I was told before my mission that the use of my talents would touch the lives of many. It has been a blessing to see that promise fulfilled.

Another cool miracle! When Sister Jeppson was here, we stopped by a former investigator's house a few times and she was never there, just her husband and his mom. Her name is Kiki. Anyway, we stopped by last night and she was finally home!! We had a really good talk with her and she LOVES the church! She went for a few years but stopped coming because she didn't want to be baptized. At the end of the night, she offered me a Tagalong (I almost cried because I didn't get any Girl Scout Cookies this year haha) and told us we could come back during the day another time and we could chat! We are so excited to talk to her more about her experience with coming to church and meeting with missionaries in the past. We are hopeful that she will want to talk to us about the gospel.

Well, that's all for this week. I love you all and thank you for your love and prayers!

Love,

Sister Lewis

Weeks 25 & 26

First order of business, transfer calls were last night. I'm staying here in Mt Airy and Sister Jeppson is leaving to follow-up train a lovely missionary in Odenton, MD. Her first two areas were in the Annapolis stake and Mt Airy was her third, now she's going back to Nap-town! Crazy haha! My new companion's name is Sister Sessions and I have heard wonderful things about her! Even if I had heard terrible things, she would still be my new companion and I would still love her though! I'm excited to meet her

So Week 25...we had a sweet miracle! Just 5 days after Sarah was baptized, her friend Alayna was still in town and she wanted us to meet at the church and "help write thank you cards." Yeah right. Sneaky Sarah. Haha! We ended up talking to Alayna about the baptism and she was in awe at the spirit she felt there! She said ever since the baptism she felt motivated and excited about life. "Just happiness" in her words. We invited her to be baptized and she said that is what she wants to do!! Not right away, but she wants to learn about the church and work toward baptism! She lives in North Carolina and will be taught by the missionaries there. We are so excited for her! Heavenly Father loves her and has let her know for sure!

I also taught a new investigator named Steve on splits with our awesome ward missionary Sister Altman! He is SO awesome and SO prepared! He is super intellectual and has a fantastic understanding of faith! It is a TRUST in God, not just a passive belief. He will do what he says he will do. Would you cheer at the bottom of Niagara Falls as He asks if you believe He can walk across a tightrope with a wheel barrow? Would you get in the wheel barrow? I was called to reflect on these questions and hope to improve my faith over the course of my life!

We also met a member of the Mt Airy ward whose grandson is in the bishopric in BYSA...I can't remember if I put this in my last email. She suffered a fall the day before Thanksgiving. I remember her grandson telling us about it and we fasted for her the following fast Sunday. And now I get to meet her! What a tender mercy!

Week 26...I found out that a member of my ward is my 3rd cousin once removed. Our common ancestor is the first member to join the church on both of our lines and he has a ton of family history on this guy! So amazing!

We also had an amazing lesson with Mareina! She knows the Book of Mormon is true but we are helping her work through some personal stuff! She's awesome!

I'm out of time but I love you all! Please continue to pray for me and those I work with!

Love,

Sister Lewis
